Starting with nothing, you scavenge for food, water, weapons, and medical supplies while navigating interactions with other players that range from cooperation to betrayal. The game features detailed survival mechanics including disease, hunger, thirst, temperature, wound management, base building, and vehicle repair across massive open-world maps.
A dedicated DayZ server gives you control over the survival experience your community wants. You can run vanilla hardcore gameplay, build a heavily modded DayZ server with custom traders and expanded base building, or create a roleplay community with specific rules. Having your own server means you manage player slots, configure settings through serverDZ.cfg, and decide whether to run Chernarus, Livonia, Sakhalin, or a completely custom map from the Workshop.
