Here are some common BeamMP server issues you may encounter and how to fix them.
Server Not Showing in Browser
If your server isn't appearing in the multiplayer browser, or you're seeing [WARN] Backend failed to respond to a heartbeat in your console, this means your server is unable to be queried by BeamMP.
The most common causes are:
- Missing AUTH key - Your server requires an AUTH key to display in the server browser. Create an AUTH key for your BeamMP server.
- Server set to private - Ensure
Privateis set toFalseinServer Optionsof the Game Host Bros Game Panel.
If unsuccessful, ensure your AUTH key is correct and that you've restarted your server. Otherwise, there's nothing to do except wait, as BeamMP may be having network issues. You can view our own network status here.
Stuck on Connecting
If you're having trouble connecting to a server and are stuck on "Connecting", "Start," or "Socket Error", in most cases this is caused by an incompatible or corrupted mod file and is especially common right after BeamNG has updated. Follow these steps to deactivate your mods before trying to load into your server:
- Restart your PC/BeamMP.
- Open BeamMP.
- Go to
Repository → Mods Manager. - Click
Deactivate all mods. - Then only re-enable
MultiplayerBeamMP. - Connect to your server.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, temporarily rename the Resources/Client folder on your server and then restart to disable mods on your server. Then try connecting to your server without mods. If successful, you've confirmed it's a mod-related issue. To troubleshoot, start by removing/disabling half of the mods on your server and then begin testing.
We highly recommend using SFTP to move multiple mods at a time.
If you recently uploaded a mod, start troubleshooting from there, persistent "Socket Error" messages may indicate that one of your mod files is corrupted or a firewall/anti-virus issue, double-check to ensure all mod uploads were successful.
Creating a New BeamNG Profile
Do this if the steps above don't resolve the issue:
- Open the BeamMP launcher.
- Click
Manage User Folder. - Select
Open User Folder. - Rename the current folder, for example
currenttocurrent_OLD. - Start BeamMP and connect to your server.
Cars Not Moving
If you can connect to your server but cars won't move, try the following:
- Check your system date and time - An incorrect date or time on your PC can cause cars to not move in BeamMP.
- Wait for the event queue - On the latest versions of BeamMP, you need to wait for the event queue to finish processing before cars will start moving. This may take a few moments after spawning.
BeamMP Won't Start
- Restart your PC.
- Run the launcher as administrator.
- Check your firewall/antivirus.
- Check for GPU driver updates.
- Search the BeamMP Reddit or Discord.
- Reinstall BeamMP.
