How to Enable Hardcore Mode on Your Minecraft Server

Hardcore mode is permanent death, when players die they become spectators and cannot respawn. Additionally, the difficulty is automatically locked to hard, making this the ultimate survival challenge.

In hardcore mode, when players die they will be set to spectator mode and cannot respawn. Make sure all players understand this before enabling hardcore mode!

Enabling Hardcore Mode on a New World

    Access the Game Host Bros panel and Stop your Minecraft server.

    In the sidebar, go to File Manager.

    Open server.properties, set hardcore= to true and click save.

    Delete your existing world folder to generate a new hardcore world.

    Start your server.

Enabling Hardcore Mode on an Existing World

To convert an existing world to hardcore, you need to edit the world's level.dat file.

    Access the Game Host Bros panel and Stop your Minecraft server.

    In the sidebar, go to File Manager and navigate to your world folder.

    Download the level.dat file.

    Upload the file to an NBT editor website (such as irath96's NBT Editor).

    Find the hardcore value and change it to 1, then save your changes.

    Upload the newly modified level.dat file to your existing world folder, replacing the original file.

    Start your server.
