How to Change Your Vintage Story Server Version

Want to change your Vintage Story server version or switch to a different release branch? This guide will walk you through the process on your Vintage Story server.

This is how you can play older versions, or play-test upcoming releases.

Danger

Make sure you back up your save before changing versions! Features from experimental pre-release versions are not expected to be supported on shared hosting as this is only a testing ground for the game developers. We officially only support the main, stable branch of the game.

Change Release Branch

    Access the Game Host Bros Panel and Stop your Vintage Story server.
  2. 2
    In the sidebar, click on Server Options.
  3. 3
    Find the Release branch setting.
  4. 4
    Select your desired branch:
    • stable - The latest stable release
    • unstable - Pre-release builds
    • pre - Experimental builds
  5. 5
    In the sidebar, go to Advanced → Server Actions and click Reinstall Server.
    • (Consider deleting ALL Files and Folders in File Manager for a clean installation).

Change Specific Version

Note

Your desired version must be available on your selected release branch.

A community-maintained list of Vintage Story versions can be found at vsversions.com.

    Access the Game Host Bros Panel and select your Vintage Story server.

    In the sidebar, click on Server Options.
  3. 3
    Set your Release branch to stable or unstable.
  4. 4
    Change Release version from latest to your desired version (e.g., 1.18.15).
  5. 5
    Go to Advanced → Server Actions and click Reinstall Server.
